| i've never been as worn out in my life.

feeling like i'm always on the verge of tears lately. i keep having the urge to film myself repeatedly falling down without catching myself.
practice fear. practice lose of control. practice pain. practice punishment.

| also, doin' this thang now:http://maurakellymaurakelly.blogspot.com/
that one's more based on my artwork and what 'inspires' me (i hate that term) and just generally what i'm up to as far as art-making goes. pretty much everyone at mcad has one so we can check up on each other and give feedback and steal ideas from one another, so i figured i'd better start. just thought i'd share it here in case anyone's enough of a creep to want to know that junk too.
and at least two people who i know read this have asked, so this is my lovely boy, troy. i guess it's definitely been proven now that i have a thing for bearded, hairy men; as that's what the last few have been. go figure. anyway, this picture's really really little but i thought it was adorable because 1. he's smiling and that's just adorable in itself but also 2. he's wearing a silly pink and white hat crocheted for him by one of his little girl riders (he couches snowboarding. awwww) WHATTA STUD, AM I RIGHT?! i'm so lucky.

| so my roomie jake's exgirlfriend goes to aveda and talked me into letting her perm my hair tomorrow. MY HAIR WILL BE HUGE. what have i gotten myself into? other than FREE HUGE HAIR ENHANCEMENT?! haha it was time for a change anywayz. watch out, minneapolis! we decided we're going for this:

and now troy and i will match even more. weird. shauna and i had a revelation the other day regarding my love for curlyheaded menfolk. so true.
also, MY LAST FINAL IS ON TUESDAYYYY FUCK YEAHHHHHH | | |
| last night was so so so amazing. troy is absolutely beautiful. i wish i could look into that face looking into my face forever. my bike ride home this morning was so splendid, and i've been catching some of the lingering smells from last night on my hair and skin all day. scandalous. | | |
| things are so good right now. i just finished up a bunch of huge projects and papers and i feel like i've got a little bit of breathing room right now until i get hit with final projects. so productive lately, it feels great. i actually even started my final project for drawing the other day, despite having a good three weeks to finish it. i'm making a sculpture, which might seem silly for a drawing class but it's based on work i've done in the class and the ideas are fully formed and john agrees that it's what i need to do, so i'm going to do it. so far it's going great, i'm so excited about it.
i finished my paintings for the merit scholarship competition and got a lot of positive feedback while they were up. this is definitely a direction in my paintings i'm going to be exploring more in the near future. i think we'll find out tomorrow who won, which is exciting. i'm not really getting my hopes up, but it sure would be nice to have an extra couple thousand to pay for school. but there was a lot of good work up by a lot of good kids, so i'll be happy for whoever wins it.

also, i've got my two forged steel sculptures going up at another Fallout show! that's pretty darn exciting, even though Fallout is pretty easy to get things into. good exposure nonetheless. i dropped some stuff off at st.kate's the other day too for a show that kassy's putting up as part of her internship. so busy lately, but with good stuff!
troy and i are pretty great, i think. i had a talk with luke the other night about how we can't share a room anymore if we officially start seeing each other, and it went very well. i think we've got things figured out now and i feel like there's a lot less tension than there had been the past few weeks. i'm excited for this summer, i think things will be good all the way around.
oh, and jake's cat Buddy is living with us now! such a cutie. i'm so much more a dog person than a cat person, but buddy's pretty dope. and he likes me a whole lot and only stays by me whenever i'm home. he's actually laying partly on my with his leg over the keyboard right now. and he snores in this weird way that i've never heard any other cat do. so cool.

annie and i decided that we're going to start renting out the mcad galleries when they're free and curating our own shows with student and outside work. we're both just so sick of seeing all this bad art and feel that it's really important that students take charge and realize not only that they're capable of curating, but also how important it is to be involved with that process. i think acceptance and recognition of good work among peers is so important. being able to critically look at work and judge its craft and affectiveness as a piece is a very useful and vital skill to develop. we're definitely going to be hard-asses about the quality of work that gets shown, no more half-assed, poorly thought out and poorly executed pieces. good art only! good art only! good art only! i'm excited.
also, i spent the morning in studio A documenting some stuff. here are a few views of a recent sculpture:
